About Us
The Laboratory for Ultrafast Chiral Science, led by Professor Soumen Ghosh, is housed at the Department of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry, Indian Institute of Science. Our group is broadly interested in understanding chirality, magnetism and spin dynamics and their interplay at ultrafast timescales in chemical, biological and materials systems. Towards this goal, we develop and apply novel optical tools such as state-of-the-art broadband femtosecond circular dichroism spectroscopy and related polarization-resolved techniques to investigate chiroptical and magneto-optical dynamics in excited electronic states. Our work has strong implications in the field of enantioselective photocatalysis, quantum spintronics, chiral plasmonics and for understanding biological funtion.
