Response to Reviewers’ comments on the recommendation

We thank both the referees for a careful reading and encouraging comments.  Our specific response to reviewer 2 is given below:

Reviewer 2:

1.      It has already been mentioned in F3 and the technical report that the electronegativity of an atom can change depending on the substituents.

2.      One of the earlier reviewer had pointed out that there could be symmetric hydrogen bonds as in (FHF)- and insisted that it be explicitly mentioned.  Though our earlier version did not exclude the possibility that X and Y could be the same, we did include this sentence.  We realize that this could be misunderstood as shown by the current reviewer.  The sentence has been modified to remove this ambiguity.

3.      It has already been mentioned that the correlations would not work well if hydrogen bonds in different surrounding are compared in F1.

4.      The task group really liked the crisp sentence in E3.

5.      Suggestion accepted and ‘in a given solvent’ has been included.

6.      Suggestion accepted.  Some do feel that co-operativity is a hallmark of hydrogen bonding.
