ANNOUNCEMENT

With the support of the Indian Academy of Science, a 'Discussion Meeting on Molecular Interactions' will be organized between November 28th and December 1st 2010. While a bond between two atoms has been fairly well understood, intermolecular interactions remain at the heart of chemistry and biology. Recent advances in experimental and theoretical methods are playing a crucial role in shaping our understanding on intermolecular interactions. Advances are happening in various fields such as spectroscopic and scattering studies in molecular beam, crystallography, and experimental and theoretical analysis on electron density topology. These studies, one might say address static structures controlled by intermolecular interactions. In parallel, one sees significant advances in dynamic structure measurements in liquids both using time-resolved spectroscopic measurements and molecular dynamics simulations. For the molecular dynamics simulation, one needs reliable intermolecular potentials which often come from spectroscopic and scattering studies on small clusters. The objective of this meeting is to bring together people working in these diverse areas, all concerned with intermolecular interactions. The meeting will be held at the Orange County Resort in which the Indian Academy of Sciences has a time-share. Due to the limited accommodation available, participation is by invitation only. All participants will give an invited talk.
